We all know that Prahlada was the son of Hiranyakashipu. According to the story in Harivamsha, Hiranyakashipu had another son called Kaalanemi. (Kalanemi appears in different demon forms in each yuga and gets killed by Lord. In Threthayuga he was Ravana's uncle.) This Kalanemi of Dwapara yuga had 6 sons who were the son's of Marichi Maharshi in their previous birth. They were born as Kalanemi's children becasue of a curse from Sage Devala. They were called shad-garbhaas and their names were Hamsa, Suvikrama, Krahta, Damana, Ripumardana and Krodhahantha.
These grandsons of Hiranyakashipu did not accept Hiranykashipu as their God and refused to chant "Hiranyaaya Nama" as instructed. Instead they did severe penance to please Brahma Devan. Brahmadevan was pleased and appeared before them and gave the boon they asked for. They did not want to get killed by any Devaas, Gandharvaas, Yakshaas or naagaas. After receiving the boons, they stayed under water and enjoyed full freedom there.
Hiranyakshipu knew this and was very upset about their paying respect to Brahma instead of him. He cursed them that they would be killed by their own father in their next birth. Now, Kalanemi took birth as King Ugrasena's son Kamsa. These Shad-garbhaas (shad means six) took birth in Devaki's womb as Krishna's elder brothers and as soon as they were born, all of them were killed by Kamsa (who was their father Kalanemi in the previous birth.)
Seventh brother is Balarama and 8 th is Lord Krishna. Much later Krishna brought to earth all his elder brothers killed by Kamsa and showed them to His mother Devaki.
(Bhagavatham does not mention Kalanemi as Hiranykashipu's son. He is only mentioned as Asura.)
