Nothing is eternal except Bhakthi and Bhagagavaan. This story illustrates how Lord Krishna after accomplishing His purpose of incarnation, executed His divine plans to destroy the arrogant members of His own Yadavakulam and went back to His permanent abode.
Once all the children of Dwaraka were playing in Pindaaraka theertha. A group of children including Bhagavaan's son Saamban decided to wear some fancy dresses and act as different characters. Probably they had what we call a fancy dress competition! So Saamban decided to act as a pregnant woman and dressed accordingly.
During that time a few divine Rishis were returning after a Mahaayagnam and had to cross through the play fields of children. When the children saw the Rishis, they decided to go and pay respect to them. Some mischievous ones, in a satiric mood, wanted to test the knowledge and power of these great sages . They made Saamban who was dressed as a pregnant woman, stand in front of them and asked them whether the baby in Saamban's womb was a boy or girl. These sages had divine vision and could immediately understand their trick.
In one voice they answered: "He will deliver an iron pestle and that will cause the destruction of the whole Yadava kulam". Without waiting for a moment, sages walked past them. That was a curse and they realized the graveness of the situation just by looking at the illuminating faces of the sages. The children were very scared and upset and ran to King Ugrasena to report about this incident. When they removed the clothes of Saamban he actually delivered an iron pestle! King Ugrasena also was worried and before anybody knew about it, he ordered his people to file the iron pestle into fine powder and throw into the vast ocean. They did accordingly. Most of it was filed and one small piece remained and they just put everything in the ocean.
Later these iron filings grew on the shore as sharp blades of thick grass with which Yadavaas fought and killed each other. The small piece of iron left was swallowed by a fish and it was caught by a fisherman and passed it on to a hunter called Jara. He sharpened it, shaped it and used it to make a powerful arrow. As per Bhagavaan's divine plan, Jara mistook Bhagavaan's feet for a bird and sent the arrow to hit His Lotus feet. After blessing Jara, Bhagavaan took that incident as a pretext to return to His permanent abode (leaving His full energy and divine power in Bhaagavatham and in the Anjanavigraham of Guruvayoor!!! ) and Kaliyuga started!
Hantha Bhaagyam Janaanaam!
