ശ്രീമഹാഭാഗവതം ദശമം കേരളഭാഷാഗാനം  —  അദ്ധ്യായം  11

Lines 1 - 50 

ഘോരമായൊരു ശബ്ദം കേൾക്കയാൽ എല്ലാവരും 

പാരമായ്  ഭയപ്പെട്ടു നീളവേ നോക്കുന്നേരം 

ബന്ധമെന്നിയേ വീണ വൃക്ഷവും സമീപത്തു 

ബന്ധനം പ്രാപിച്ചൊരു ബാലകനെയും കണ്ടാർ.

എന്തു കാരണമിന്നു വൃക്ഷങ്ങൾ പതിപ്പാനെ--

ന്നന്തരാ ചിന്തിച്ചവരോരോന്നു ചൊല്ലുന്നേരം 

"മണ്ടിവന്നിഹ കൃഷ്ണൻ വൃക്ഷങ്ങൾ പുഴക്കിനാൻ;

കണ്ടിതു ഞങ്ങളെ"ന്നു ഗോപബാലരും ചൊന്നാർ.

ആരുമേ കൈക്കൊണ്ടീല ബാലന്മാരുടെ വാക്യം;

സാരതയുള്ളവർക്കു സന്ദേഹമുണ്ടായ് വന്നു. 10

നന്ദനും കുമാരനെക്കെട്ടഴിച്ചാനന്ദത്താൽ

മന്ദഹാസവും ചെയ് തു കൊണ്ടങ്ങു പോയീടിനാൻ.

ദാമം കൊണ്ടുദരത്തെ  ബന്ധനം ചെയ് കമൂലം

നാമവും  ദാമോദരൻ എന്നതും ഉണ്ടായ് വന്നു.

ഗോപികാജനങ്ങൾക്കു മോദത്തെ വളർത്തുവാൻ 

ഗോപബാലന്മാരോടുമൊന്നിച്ചു ദാമോദരൻ 

കല്യാണഗാത്രിമാരാം വല്ലവീജനമെല്ലാം 

ചൊല്ലുന്ന ലീലകളെച്ചെയ് തീടും മടിയാതെ 

പാട്ടുപാടിടും, നന്നായാടീടും, നൃത്തം ചെയ് യും, 

കാട്ടുന്നതെല്ലാം മനോമോഹനം എല്ലാവർക്കും. 20

ഇത്തരം എല്ലാവർ ക്കും ആനന്ദം വരുമാറു 

ചിത്തമോദേന കളിച്ചീടുന്നാളൊരു ദിനം 

നന്ദനന്മാരായുള്ള രാമകൃഷ്ണന്മാരേയും 

നന്ദിച്ചു വിളിച്ചിതു രോഹിണീദേവിതാനും:--

"ഇന്നു നിങ്ങടെ ജന്മനക്ഷത്രം ആകുന്നിതു;

വന്നാലും കുളിച്ചു ഗോദാനങ്ങൾ ചെയ് തീടുവാൻ.

ബാലകന്മാരെയെല്ലാം അമ്മമാർ കുളിപ്പിച്ചു 

പാലോടു നെയ് യും ചോറും ഒക്കവേ ഭുജിപ്പിച്ചു 

നല്ലൊരാഭരണങ്ങൾ ഇട്ടുകൊണ്ടയച്ചിതു;

കല്യാണരൂപന്മാരെക്കണ്ടതില്ലയോ നിങ്ങൾ?  30

നിങ്ങളും കുളിച്ചങ്ങു നല്ല കോപ്പുകളിട്ടു 

ഭങ് ഗിയിൽ കളിപ്പാനായ് പ്പോയാലും വൈകീടാതെ."

എന്നമ്മ പറഞ്ഞീട്ടും വന്നീല കുമാരന്മാർ 

അന്നേരം യശോദയെച്ചൊൽകെന്നു നിയോഗിച്ചാൾ.

നന്ദനസ്നേഹംകൊണ്ടു മുലയും ചുരന്നുടൻ 

സുന്ദരീ യശോദയും ചെന്നങ്ങു വിളിച്ചുതേ:

"പങ്കജേക്ഷണ! കൃഷ്ണ ! വൈകാതെ വരിക നീ;

സങ് കടമുണ്ടു  നിന്നെക്കാണാഞ്ഞിട്ടെനിയ് ക്കിപ്പോൾ.

നല്ലൊരു മുലപ്പാലും എല്ലാമേ പോയീടുന്നു;

കല്യാണശീല രാമാ ! വൈകാതെ വരിക നീ. 40

എത്രയും കാലത്തല്ലോ ഭോജനം ചെയ് തൂ നിങ്ങൾ 

ഇത്ര നേരവും സ്തനപാനവും ചെയ് തീലല്ലോ.

ഒന്നിച്ചു ഭുജിയ് ക്കേണം നിങ്ങളോടെന്നതോർത്തു 

നന്ദഗോപനും നോക്കിപ്പാർക്കുന്നു മോദത്തോടും.

ചേറുകൾ അണിഞ്ഞതും ഒക്കവേ കളയേണം 

പോരിക, ബാലന്മാരേ മജ്ജനം ചെയ് തീടുവാൻ."

എന്നുരചെയ് തു കയ് യും പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോന്നു 

നന്നായിക്കുളിപ്പിയ് ക്കും നേരത്തു ചൊന്നാൻ കൃഷ്ണൻ.

"ജ്യേഷ്ഠനെപ്പോലെ മമ ഗാത്രവും വെളുക്കേണം ;

കോട്ടമുണ്ടല്ലായ് കിലോ ബാലന്മാർ ഭാഷിച്ചീടും. 50

Everybody became afraid when they heard the huge sound (of the falling trees) and they all looked around . Then they saw young Krishna tied to a pounding stone, standing near the two fallen trees. When all of them were debating about how the trees could have fallen, the young GOpAs said:

"We saw how Krishna came running and uprooted the trees."

Nobody believed the words of GOpAs and some wise people were doubtful that the words of GOpAs were true. Nanda untied the boy and went away smiling (with relief that his son was not harmed). 

Lines 13- 20

Since Krishna was tied around his  "udaram" or stomach with "dAmam" or rope He got the name DAmOdaran, meaning “the one who was tied to a tree with a rope around His stomach.  To please the GOpikAs, without the least hesitation, DAmOdaran along with young GOpAs, performed many playful actions suggested by those auspicious women of Vraja. As requested by them He sang, He danced  and all His pastimes captivated the mind of all the onlookers.

Lines 21-46

While Krishna with His companions were happily performing many leelAs and were pleasing everybody, one day, ROhinIdEvi called both children, Rama and Krishna, and told them:

" Today is your birthday (the day of the asterism under which you were born). After taking a bath, please come here and give away cows as "dAnam" to deserving people."

The young GOpa boys were given a bath by their mothers and they fed them with rice mixed with ghee. After that the mothers made them wear some beautiful ornaments. Seeing this, ROhini told Rama and Krishna:

" Look at all thpse good boys who have finished their baths and are dressed up in pretty  clothes. Without delay, you two also have to go and take a bath. "

In spite of ROhini's request, the brothers refused to go and take a bath. So she requested YaShOda to call them (to advise). Overwhelmed with the love for her son, milk started oozing from YaShOdA's breasts and the beautiful yaShOda called him:

"Oh ! lotus-eyed Krishna! Kindly come soon. Without being able to see You, I feel sad. Both of you ate something very early today and after that you have not drunk any milk until now. NandagOpa is also waiting for you to come here so that all of you can eat together. Come boys,  we have to wash off all the dirt off of your body by taking a bath."

Lines 47- 50

YaShOda said the above words and  holding their hands brought them and started bathing them. At that time Krishna said:

"Please scrub my body hard and I promise will not cry. I want to have my complexion as light as my my elder brother's. Otherwise,  boys (GOpAs) will talk about that (as if it were a defect).”
