പുറയന്നൂർ ദശമം കിളിപ്പാട്ട്  --  അദ്ധ്യായം 22

വന്നിതു ഹേമന്തവും അക്കാലം; ഗോപസ്ത്രീക--

ളൊന്നിച്ചു പുറപ്പെട്ടു കാളിന്ദീതീരം പുക്കാർ.

സ്നാനവുംചെയ് തു ശുദ്ധി വരുത്തി വഴിപോലെ 

മാനസം തന്നിലുറപ്പിച്ചിതു ദേവി തന്നെ.

മണ്ണുകൊണ്ടൊരു ദേവീരൂപത്തെച്ചമച്ചവർ  

പുണ്യദേശത്തു വെച്ചു പൂജിച്ചു വഴിപോലെ 

ചന്ദനധൂപദീപമാല്യങ്ങൾ നിവേദ്യങ്ങൾ 

എന്നിവ കൊണ്ടു നിത്യം പൂജിച്ചു ഭക്തിയോടും.

മങ് ഗളമായ നല്ല ഹവിസ്സും ഭക്ഷിച്ചുകൊ--

ങ്ങിനെയൊരു മാസം സേവിച്ചാരവരെല്ലാം. 10

നിത്യവും അവരൊരു മന്ത്രത്താൽ സേവിച്ചീടും 

എത്രയും മുഖ്യമതു സാരമാകയുമുണ്ട് .

"ലോകനായികേ, മഹായോഗിനി, കാർത്ത്യായനി,

ശോകനാശിനി, ശിവവല്ലഭേ, മഹാമായേ!  

നന്ദനന്ദനനായ സുന്ദരരൂപൻ കൃഷ്ണനിന്നു 

ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഭർത്താവായിട്ടു വരേണമേ !

എന്നതിനായിക്കൊണ്ടു ഞങ്ങളിന്നെല്ലാവരും 

നിന്നുടെ പാദാംബുജേ വീണിതാ വണങ്ങുന്നു.”

എന്നൊരു മന്ത്രം നിത്യം ജപിച്ചിതെല്ലാവരും 

ഒന്നിച്ചു കാർത്യായനീദേവിയെ സ്തുതിചെയ് താർ. 20

അന്നൊരു ദിനം ജലക്രീഡചെയ് വാതിന്നായി--

സ്സുന്ദരിമാരായുള്ള  ഗോപകന്യകമാരും

വസ്ത്രവും അഴിച്ചതിൻ തീരദേശത്തു വെച്ചി--

ട്ടെത്രയും മോദത്തോടും ഇറങ്ങീ കാളിന്ദിയിൽ.

ഓളത്തിൽക്കളിയ് ക്കയും ഒട്ടൊട്ടു തുടിയ് ക്കയും 

മേളത്തിൽപ്പാട്ടുപാടി രസിച്ചു  നീന്തുന്നേരം 

ബാലന്മാരൊരുമിച്ചു കൃഷ്ണനും തത്ര ചെന്നു 

ചേലകളെടുത്തുകൊണ്ടാലിന്മേൽ കരേറിനാൻ.

വൃക്ഷശാഖകൾതോറും ചേലകൾതൂക്കിക്കൊണ്ടു 

തൽക്ഷണം ഗോപിമാരോടീവണ്ണം ഉരചെയ് തു:--  30

Chapter 22, Lines 1-10

The Hemantha season (early winter / Autumn) arrived and the GOikAs set off together and reached the banks of Kalindi. After finishing their bath they meditated on DEvi. They made a statue of DEvi with earth and mud and they worshiped Her following the customs.  They worshiped Her daily with sincerity using sandalwood paste, incense sticks, lamps, garlands and other offerings. They consumed the oblation or burnt offering as prasaadam and worshiped the Goddess like that for a whole month.

There is an important manthram or prayer, chanting which they worshiped DEvi every day. The meaning of the prayer is:

"O ! Queen of the Universe! MahAyOgini! KArthyAyini! One who removes all sorrows! Consort of Lord Shiva! MaahAmAyE! May that handsome Krishna, son of Nanda, become our husband! With that prayer, we are all prostrating at Your lotus-feet"

Saying daily the above prayer together, they extolled KArthyAyini dEvi. 

Lines 21- 30

One day those beautiful GOPikAS decided to play in the water. So they removed their clothes , kept them on the bank of the river and happily got into the water. They played on the small waves and splashed the water. Along with that they were singing  and making rhythmic sounds by clapping their hands under water.  While they were playing and singing like that Krishna and his friends came there, took away the women’s clothes and climbed on a Banyan tree nearby.  Then the boys hung their clothes on the branches of the tree and spoke the the following words to GOpikAs:
