Ksheerabdhi mathhanam -A spiritual comparison -1

Ksheerabdhi mathhanam -A spiritual comparison -1
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ksheerabdhi mathhanam can be compared to the churning of our own manOsaagaram, in which the eternal divinity is uniformly distributed just like how butter is present in every drop of milk.

Let us begin.

1. Kaheeraabdhi mathhanam or churning of the milky ocean - Spiritual efforts to win over our mind or to churn our mind and attain liberation.

It can be compared to the spiritual churning (by observing austerities, vrathaas and saadhaanaas and leading a dhaarmic life) to experience the cream of  Eternal Bliss or to experience the Absolute Truth.

2. White color of the milk - Mind filled with Saathvic qualities and a mind filled with Shubha sankalapam or optimiism.(white represents Satva Gunam.)

Minds of  all of us are originally full of goodness, Because of the accumulated tendencies of several previous lives, it gets contaminated with less pure RajOgunam and impure ThamOgunam. But the cream of immortality is spread all over the mind.

Mathhanaanantharam Maadhava darshanam. After the successful spiritual churning of the mind, we get to see LOrd Maadhava or we become a self-realized soul ever experiencing the Eternal Bliss!!

3. DEvAs and AsurAs - Positive and Negative tendencies arising in our mind.

Mind or the whole Universe gets going on the "principle of opposites". Even the creation happens as the equilibrium of the three GunAs are tilted by Bhagavaan"s MAya. So to churn the mind we need the help of both negative and positive tendencies and has to continue until the negative forces fade out leaving the mind strong with the positive forces. In the end positive forces also are wiped out by  the eternal bliss!. The principle of "A thorn to remove a thorn and discarding of  both thorns" or KantakEnaiva kantakam. is used here.

DEvAs represent our higher self with virtues like  Dharmam, sathyam, kindness etc where as AsurAs are our lower self  with forces like KAma- krodha-mOha-lObha-mada-maathsaryam.

Shathaabishekam

6/21/08 When is Shathaabhishekam celebrated? When it should be celebrated? We have heard about different versions of when it should be celebrated, when you complete 84 years, or when you complete 81 years and 10 months or when you complete 83 years 4 months. Shathaabhishekam is celebrated when a person sees 1000 full moons lives through 1000 full moons in his life. Since it is a mathematical calculation, there should only be one answer. Then how are we having all these three answers? (It really does not matter when you celebrate, but out of curiosity to know the reason behind the celebration, I did some research and I thought some people may share my curiosity. Of all the explanations I read I liked the one given below.)   Here is a convincing explanation based mainly on a question -answer series in Bhakthapriya magazine published by Guruvayur devaswom. For clarity, I am trying to express it as mathematically as possible.   Number of full moon...

Six elder brothers of Krishna

5/6/09 We all know that Prahlada was the son of Hiranyakashipu. According to the story in Harivamsha, Hiranyakashipu had another son called Kaalanemi. (Kalanemi appears in different demon forms in each yuga and gets killed by Lord. In Threthayuga he was Ravana's uncle.) This Kalanemi of Dwapara yuga had 6 sons who were the son's of Marichi Maharshi in their previous birth. They were born as Kalanemi's children becasue of a curse from Sage Devala. They were called shad-garbhaas and their names were Hamsa, Suvikrama, Krahta, Damana, Ripumardana and Krodhahantha.   These grandsons of Hiranyakashipu did not accept Hiranykashipu as their God and refused to chant "Hiranyaaya Nama" as instructed. Instead they did severe penance to please Brahma Devan. Brahmadevan was pleased and appeared before them and gave the boon they asked for. They did not want to get killed by any Devaas, Gandharvaas, Yakshaas or naagaas. After receiving the boons, they stayed under wat...
