comes in this chapter. Also many other slokaas are very popular and lot of devotees chant this chapter every day. It is said  that the positive vibrations emanated by chanting the slokaas from this chapter and all verses of Devi Maahaathmyam will remove all negativity from our mind as well as our homes and surroundings. It is very auspicious to chant these slokaas when we move in to a new house or apartment to fill the atmosphere with positive vibrations of Aadi Parrashakthi. These divine vibrations will definitely remove any negativity accumulated over the time,  from inauspicious sound vibrations.

Devaas extolled Her glories again and again and Devi was very pleased with their prayers and told them to ask for boons. Devaas with folded hands prayed again:

Sarva baadha prashamanam trailokyasyaakhileswari,
Evameva thwaya kaaryam asmad vairi vinaashanam.

सर्वबाधाप्रशमनं थ्रैलोक्यस्याखिलेष्वरी
एवमेव त्वया कार्यं अस्मद् वैरि विनाशनं

Hey Goddess of all the three worlds!! please remove all the afflictions of all the three worlds and destroy our enemies

Devi told Devaas that in the twenty eighth chathuryuga of Vaivaswatha mananthara,  another Sumbha and Nisumbha would take birth on earth. At the same time, She would also take birth in Vrindavanam as the daughter of Nandagopar and Yasoda Devi known as Bhagavan's YOgamaaya and would kill manyl Asuraas. Then again she would manifest  as Rakhthadanthika (one with red teeth) to kill Viprachitthas. By that time earth will experience severe drought and responding to the prayers of sages and devotees, She would manifest as Shathaakshi (one with hundred eyes) to alleviate their suffering.  She would be also known as Shaakambari. She would eliminate another ASura Durgaman and would be known as Durga Devi. Then in the form of Bheemadevi, she would destroy all the Asuraas in Himalya valleys to protect all the great sages doing penance there. And she would take her most strange manifestation as a beetle colony and would go after Asura called Aruna to destory him. Because of this beetle form of manifestation, she would be also known as Bhraamari Devi (Bhramaram is beetle). Thus she promised Devaas that when ever great sages and good people suffer in this world, she would manifest in appropriate forms to annihilate the bad elements of the society to establish peace and harmony.

Thus assuring the protection of all good people, finally Devi disappeared and Devaas and sages extolled Her glories again and again!

Nest two chapters, thirteen and fourteen explains the greatness of DEvi Maahaathmyam and how it prevents  negative thoughts and actions and how effective the chanting of Devi Mahaathmyam in bringing peace and harmony.

Shathaabishekam

6/21/08 When is Shathaabhishekam celebrated? When it should be celebrated? We have heard about different versions of when it should be celebrated, when you complete 84 years, or when you complete 81 years and 10 months or when you complete 83 years 4 months. Shathaabhishekam is celebrated when a person sees 1000 full moons lives through 1000 full moons in his life. Since it is a mathematical calculation, there should only be one answer. Then how are we having all these three answers? (It really does not matter when you celebrate, but out of curiosity to know the reason behind the celebration, I did some research and I thought some people may share my curiosity. Of all the explanations I read I liked the one given below.)   Here is a convincing explanation based mainly on a question -answer series in Bhakthapriya magazine published by Guruvayur devaswom. For clarity, I am trying to express it as mathematically as possible.   Number of full moons in one year = 12   So n

16 names of Lord Vishnu

16 names of Lord Vishnu 4/26/08 These are 16 names of Vishnu to be remembered at different occasions. It is said that sabda (sabda), sparsha (touch), roopa (form), rasa (taste), gandha (smell) and the positive energy or vibration coexist with words. Repeated chanting of each word with bhava creates different results in our body since effort to utter each word uses different muscles and brings different effect in the saadhaka. Chanting can be done like in the naamaavali: Om Vishnave Nama:, Om Janaaardanaaya nama:, Om padmanaabhaaya nama: etc. We will try to analyze the meaning of each name. May be Vishunsahasranama interpretaions will help us. . When taking medicine think of Vishnu Before eating think of Janaardana Before going to bed think of Padmanaabha During marriage think of Prajaapathi During fight or controversial situations think Chakradhara When you are away from home or NRIs like lot of us think of Thrivikrama At the time of death try to think of Naarayana When you are wi
