Narada and Maya 4

When king Thaaladhvaja left for his palace, Narada muni asked Bhagavan:

Lord! what happened to me? How did I get transformed to a lovely woman? Why did I experience so much sorrow as a queen and now how did I transform back to myself?

Bhagavan said:

"Hey Narada! All this happened because you were under the grip of Maaya. When you see a dream, you feel it is real and only when you wake up,  you realize that it was not real and it was only a dream. Exactly like that, Maaya makes you believe that it is real and only when you stand back and become only a witness, you realize that it was not real. Maaya is that which makes you feel the unreal as real."

Thus saying Bhagavan disappeared. Then Narada went to Sathya loka or Brahma loka and told Brahma Devan about all that happened and Brahma devan, father of Narada Muni also gave him lot of advice about Maaya. He also revealed that Vishnu maaya or Yogamaaya is the same as Prakruuthi Devi or Bhagavathi. So  Brahma Devan advised Narada muni to pray to Jagadambika so that, with Her blessings, he would be able to go beyond Maaya. So Narada started worshiping Devi with intense devotion and Devi Bhagaavathi removed all His Maayaamoham or relieved him from the grip of Her.

Then Narada Muni told Vedavyasa Maharshi also to worship Devi to cross the ocean of Maaya. Vedavyasa maharshi also worshipped Devi and also wrote Devi Bhagavatham to help all of us cross the ocean of Maaya.

Here ends the story of experiencing power of Yogamaaya by Narada muni.

Shathaabishekam

6/21/08 When is Shathaabhishekam celebrated? When it should be celebrated? We have heard about different versions of when it should be celebrated, when you complete 84 years, or when you complete 81 years and 10 months or when you complete 83 years 4 months. Shathaabhishekam is celebrated when a person sees 1000 full moons lives through 1000 full moons in his life. Since it is a mathematical calculation, there should only be one answer. Then how are we having all these three answers? (It really does not matter when you celebrate, but out of curiosity to know the reason behind the celebration, I did some research and I thought some people may share my curiosity. Of all the explanations I read I liked the one given below.)   Here is a convincing explanation based mainly on a question -answer series in Bhakthapriya magazine published by Guruvayur devaswom. For clarity, I am trying to express it as mathematically as possible.   Number of full moons in one year = 12   So n
