Frog trapped in a pot of milk

This is an inspirational Aesop's fable. Sat kadhaas or stories are like satsangam. So Vivekananda says to read them over and over again.

A little frog was hopping around the farmyard. He was looking for good things to eat. He found wonderfully juicy flies, crunchy spiders, mosquitoes, and it landed in the milk shed hopping after a cricket.
The cricket hopped up onto the side of the milk container. So, the frog also followed and sat on the edge of the container. From there cricket jumped across the big pail to the window sill. Frog followed to catch him alive. Alas! it fell into the milk in the pail. It was filled half way with fresh milk and the farmer had forgotten to take it with him inside his house.

The level of the milk was too low or the height of the pail was too much for the frog to jump and reach the side and then jump out of the pail. Poor frog, kicked, kicked ,kicked and he could not climb out. Then he swam around in circles until he was exhausted. Again tried to kick and jump upward. When he was about to sink he kicked hard with his legs to stay on the surface and this continued for a long time.

Then to his surprise, he saw the milk was curdled and he continued kicking and jumping and going in circles because otherwise he will drown and die. Now it was harder to do this in the thicker curd. He patiently tried and to his second surprise he saw something hard forming and after a few more minutes it became a ball of thick butter floating on the surface of the milk. It was hard enough for the frog to stand on top of it  with out sinking in to the milk. Now he tried climbing on the butter and then kicked very hard to jump upward and this time he reached the side of the pail and in another jump he was finally free- a much wiser, free frog.

So when each time the frog croaks it is telling us:

When your life gets really tough.
When you think you've had enough
When the world works you to death
Just try to take a big deep breath
Try hard before you rest
Keep on working, do your best
Do not give up!
Never give up!

And with the power of discrimination God showered on us humans, let us add

Lord, Bless us with what is best for us!

Bhagavan bhootha bhavyesha!
na jaane hitamaatmana:
tvamaeva samchinthya vibho!
hitham mae daathum arhasi!

Shathaabishekam

6/21/08 When is Shathaabhishekam celebrated? When it should be celebrated? We have heard about different versions of when it should be celebrated, when you complete 84 years, or when you complete 81 years and 10 months or when you complete 83 years 4 months. Shathaabhishekam is celebrated when a person sees 1000 full moons lives through 1000 full moons in his life. Since it is a mathematical calculation, there should only be one answer. Then how are we having all these three answers? (It really does not matter when you celebrate, but out of curiosity to know the reason behind the celebration, I did some research and I thought some people may share my curiosity. Of all the explanations I read I liked the one given below.)   Here is a convincing explanation based mainly on a question -answer series in Bhakthapriya magazine published by Guruvayur devaswom. For clarity, I am trying to express it as mathematically as possible.   Number of full moons in one year = 12   So n

16 names of Lord Vishnu 4/26/08 These are 16 names of Vishnu to be remembered at different occasions. It is said that sabda (sabda), sparsha (touch), roopa (form), rasa (taste), gandha (smell) and the positive energy or vibration coexist with words. Repeated chanting of each word with bhava creates different results in our body since effort to utter each word uses different muscles and brings different effect in the saadhaka. Chanting can be done like in the naamaavali: Om Vishnave Nama:, Om Janaaardanaaya nama:, Om padmanaabhaaya nama: etc. We will try to analyze the meaning of each name. May be Vishunsahasranama interpretaions will help us. . When taking medicine think of Vishnu Before eating think of Janaardana Before going to bed think of Padmanaabha During marriage think of Prajaapathi During fight or controversial situations think Chakradhara When you are away from home or NRIs like lot of us think of Thrivikrama At the time of death try to think of Naarayana When you are wi
